With just a few rooms set over a bar and restaurant, it’s hard to say whether Dream Catch is a restaurant with a few rooms up top, or a guesthouse with a jolly good restaurant downstairs.
We’d opt for the former as the bar and restaurant are definitely in a wildly better state than the rooms, which are not that different from most other rooms in the same price range on Koh Touch. The rooms are basic, with fans and mosquito nets, and very simple furnishings. There’s a nice balcony out front though, where you can get away from the hurly below. They’re still within hearing range of Coco’s, though far enough away that hopefully the nighttime din should recede into the background.
The restaurant has a nice menu, featuring poutine at (no-one ever remembers the poor Canadians), bangers and mash ($4.50), salads, burgers, cheese on baguette melts (including Vegemite or Marmite with cheese). Their breakfasts are the real stand out with a wide range of options at very reasonable prices, considering where you are. The room rates include 10% off meals. We liked the vibe here a lot.
